Degree Overview

Through this course you will utilising industry standard facilities, technologies and software, under the supervision of a team of experienced and industry active lecturers, you will gain a solid grounding in, Still and moving image capture/manipulation, Cinematography, Modelling and animation, Computational, simulation, Digital composition, CGI lighting, Look development and advanced, rendering.
In the final year of this course you will undertake a major bespoke production project, where you will be able to collaborate with other disciplines and put your learning into practice, whilst showcasing your expertise developed through the course.

Alongside your studies on the course you will be afforded a range of opportunities that will enrich your learning and advance your skillset. This includes collaborations with big name broadcasters such as the BBC, and workshops and talks by award-winning professionals including Iki Ikram (VFX Artist, Last of Us, Uncharted) and Nick Wilkinson (Art Director, Game of Thrones).

Why Study this Degree

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. Those close links will provide you with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.

Over the last five years Bradford’s post-graduate employment and study rates have been significantly better than the national average for visual effects courses in the UK.

The IFY will prepare you for the first year of your undergraduate degree. It’s made up of several core and subject-specific modules that will give you a greater understanding of your chosen subject area. The skills you develop through this programme will help you in your chosen degree, in your future career, and in all aspects of life.

International Year Zero

The International Year Zero is the first year of the four year undergraduate course. IYZ is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.

Following successful completion of the IYZ, you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.
